Section 01What is IT-Tools

What is IT-Tools?

IT-Tools is an open-source collection of handy tools for developers and people working in IT, made by Corentin Thomasset. More than 80 small utilities sit in one web app, grouped into categories such as Crypto, Converter, Web, Development, Network and Text: token and hash generators, JSON and YAML converters, a JWT parser, a subnet calculator, QR codes and more.

This recipe runs IT-Tools on your own server as a static web app served by nginx: no database, no accounts and nothing to configure. The tools run in your browser and the server stores nothing, so your team gets one address on your own domain for everyday checks and conversions.

  • Free and open source (GPLv3)
  • More than 80 tools in one app
  • No accounts and no database

Section 02Features

What you can do with IT-Tools

  • Tokens, hashes and keys

Generate random tokens, UUIDs and ULIDs, hash text, create and check bcrypt hashes, make HMACs and RSA key pairs, and test how strong a password is.

  • Converters

Convert dates and timestamps, number bases, Base64 strings and files, colours and text case, and move data between JSON, YAML, TOML and XML.

  • Web helpers

Encode and decode URLs and HTML entities, parse URLs, user agents and JWTs, create Basic auth headers and OTP codes, and look up MIME types and HTTP status codes.

  • Development tools

Turn a docker run command into Docker Compose, build crontab lines, work out chmod permissions, test regular expressions, and format JSON, SQL and XML.

  • Network calculators

Calculate IPv4 subnets, convert IPv4 addresses, expand IP ranges, look up the vendor of a MAC address, and generate MAC addresses and IPv6 ULA prefixes.

  • Search and favourites

Press Ctrl+K, or Cmd+K on a Mac, to search every tool, and pin the ones you use most as favourites. Favourites are kept in your browser.

Section 03Requirements

What you need

A fresh Ubuntu server you can log in to as root. The installer checks all of this before it changes anything.

IT-Tools publishes no CPU or RAM minimum, so these are the floor for any server: 1 GB is Ubuntu Server's minimum memory. Disk: about 6.5 GB is in use once the panel and IT-Tools are installed on our test server; 25 GB is Ubuntu's recommendation.

Section 04Install

How to install IT-Tools

Every step happens in the ServerAvatar panel. No terminal needed.

  1. Pick IT-Tools in 1-Click Recipes

On your server, open Applications, click Create application and search for IT-Tools under 1-Click Recipes.

  2. Name it and choose a domain

Give the app a name and use your own domain, or a temporary one that works right away. The panel creates a system user for it.

  3. Create it

Click Create application. The panel starts IT-Tools and turns HTTPS on. There are no passwords to copy: IT-Tools has no database and no accounts.

  4. Open it and use the tools

Open the app's domain: there is no account to create and no setup. Pick a tool from the menu or press Ctrl+K to search. IT-Tools has no login, so anyone who can reach the address can use it; nothing is stored on the server. If it should stay with your team, limit who can reach the address.
